But, in the british culture, english national identity is being lost in a way that scottish and welsh isn't. England is just becoming britain, rather than a part thereof. Thats what the biggest problem is.

It's a shame that we are taught that muticulturalism is a necessary way of life in England now... Whilst I embrace other cultures with open arms and gladly celebrate them, we are running a great risk of loss of national identity.Being in our 'Special Relationship' with America is proving rather detrimental also. I'd like to say "Same thing", but it's not =PI know what I meant, and if we're honest, then England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are more like 'States' of Great Britain. We share the same currency, the same Monarchy...Don't mistake me, I'm part Irish so I don't mean a domination by England, more that we're all parts of one greater whole. =)

I totally agree with you! This country we were once proud of has little to be proud of now. Look at Rolls Royce cars, for example, they were the finest cars in the world, English. Now, would you pay that amount of money for a car with a Volkswagen engine? I know I wouldn't! Everything Britain created belongs to Europe. Boo hoo

As an Australian I think I understand why there is an EU and why Britain has now become part of it, but what I don't understand is why Britain should bend over and take the Euro-sausage up its national bum! Britain must be Britaish first and European after that. Great Britain's place in the world is bigger and more important than any European country. Anyone with half a brain outside of Europe well knows it! And anyone with a full brain within Europe, also knows it.
