On both passes it was Christa on the controls, what you could not hear was my voice on the headsets talking her through the letdown and the pullup. The decision of how much to let a pilot do is purely up to me.I did not have to touch a thing on these passes. I would say that in the past 50 or so media rides, Christa ranks probably in the top 5 on pure abilityand she is one of only two that I can remember that I "ever" let hand fly the DC-3 down below 200 AGL in tight formation. She listened instead of talked and absorbed all information. She was very smooth on the controls. By the time our pack of formation pilots had joined up on us the first time Christa had already displayed unusually high retention and very big SA. We actually made two passes, the first in formation down to about 350 AGL, the second down to below 200 AGL.

This isnt my first time to do this, I have done it more than 50 times. I can also tell you that that I make an assessment of "just what Ive got" in the left seat starting from the first introduction, the briefing, engine start, taxi out, and the first takeoff. By the time we are in the air I have a pretty good idea how much actual flying this person is going to get to do in formation. Christa was a textbook perfect applicant.

Hey Zeker111 - I read what you wrote and I can deal with it. From this, we all can conclude that you don't know what you are talking about. The truth is that this girl did win a left seat DC-3 flight. As the aircraft owner of this DC-3 and the guy in the right seat for this flight, I have the job of pulling off a formation flight with a pilot that I have never met, and never flown with.

Zeker. Er, yes I re-read what you typed but don't know why you think that would that change my response. What you typed was negative and generally a bunch of arrogant, self centred BS. Read my reply and understand that I wouldn't want you anywhere near any organisation that tries to give people a POSITIVE experience despite their experience level. You'd be the kind that just says, 'Huh, that's easy, anyone could do it'. God forbid you ever became an instructor, you're not cut out for it.....

zeker111 not to sure if you are a pilot or not but there are alot of fundamentals that go into flying including this type of aircraft firstly it is a taildragger which means that it would be a real hard aircraft to take off and land respectively as well as it is a low wing which means it is not as stable as that of a high wing aircraft as in the video they stated there was a wind and it would have been hard controlling that plane plus they said she had 4 kids when was the last time she flew?!?

Zeker111, just promise me you'll keep yourself and your attitude away from Young Eagles, the CAF etc etc, people who actually work to bring new pilots in and give people an experience to savour for the rest of their lives.
