Lmao - this is one of the best tracks formula one cars ever raced on. F1 racing wa s brilliant here and still would be. They should be back at Long Beach just for the good of F1 apart from anything else.

Yes, little greedy Bernie has every track under pressure all the time it seems. All but the highly traditional venues host an F1 event under constant threat it seems to me. L/B was a great event I thought - nice wide track, good action and very pretty too. I remember scenes of the old Queen Mary and the whole thing was just so appealing. Mario at Long Beach was about as good as it got for me. Ah the good old days ! - the real F1 spirit and feel is still evident in this vid! Thanks for posting

Good stuff, but Walker is dead wrong about why F1 left Long Beach. I went to each F1 race held there, and they were all massively attended. Long Beach was the first victim of Bernie's greed. He wanted more money to continue to put Long Beach on the calendar, and Cris Pook finally told him to stuff it.

Not just back then. I went to the 2000 U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis and they're still louder than any road-race cars I've ever heard.They scream so loud, they sound like they're in agony.

very true! my dad also used to tell me that back then the F1s were soo loud (much louder than CART) that alot of people would get very upset. I remember being a kid i could hear the cars from my house and i lived about 20-25minutes away!
