i used to think like that too, until i saw this guy. The way he utilizes a pick is totally different from their typical use with basses. In addition his picking produces a sound all its own which is nice.

it may just be me, but i'm not really a fan of using a pick when playing a bass. I don't really like the tone it gives, and really don't see any benefits from using one. |
