Yes, it has won many awards and is lighter than the I6 in the E46 m3. It is a lot better engineering wise than the V10 BMW produces; the V8 is just a better engine; with a better air intake system, better manifold runners, better headers, better head design... its just better

dont confuse an engines ease of revving up with an engines throttle response. the V10 revs better cause it has more momentum, the V8 has better throttle response because of individual throttle bodies in addition with a special airbox with different sized intake runners changing with low and high RPMs for more power. V10 shares similar featuers but M3's engine is very well designed and quite unique to that car; it was given many best engine awards for being lighter than the E46 M3's I6 engine

no it responds quicker, i donno if the one u driven was a faulty one or not, but there are more cyclinders rotating causing more velocity and power. don't forget that BMW aren't using forced inductions. so they will be able to produce more bhp and accelerate much quicker. as well as changing drivetrains

It also responds slower than the V8; and i know that because i have driven them both. i dont even think that V10 has individual throttle bodies.

The V10 you are talking about makes 505hp. BMW could tune it to make, at most, probably 540 something HP. In order to do that, they would need to bore it and stroke it, and by doing that, they will definietly not be able to make the block any lighter. If anything, to make more power with that V10, it will need to be heavier. The V10 is made of completely different stuff than the V8; the V8 is far superior. And as far as regulations, the V10 is too big liter wise and maybe cylinder wise

the v10 does not generally produce 20hp more, only coz the m6 has 500bhp, they can tune it up, way more. and the v10 they can try to make it light, but it will be worth the change coz the v10 is more responsive

Yes there is a size limit though im not sure what it is. The engine in this M3 makes 485 HP, im not sure why BMW would want to put such a heavy engine such as that V10 in the car in place of the lightest V8 the world has ever seen; because with that v10 it would only gain 20HP anyways

is there a limit to the size of the engine in the lms?? maybe they should use a V10 from the bmw m6 e63
