HiI'm sorry I didn't respond sooner and hope you got your valve back in the right way. With some trumpets, the valves can go in backwards, meaning it's 180 degrees off. Most of the time the number on the piston should face your face when you're playing the trumpet.

HiGun oil may be too thick. It's difficult to find commercially available oil as a substitue for most of the valve oils we use.J

HiWith most trumpets, the number stamped on the valve should face you when you play. Raise each valve up to where you can see the number stamped on part that houses the spring and make certain, when your holding the trumpet to play it, you can see each valve's number. Put them back in - each one should click in place and you should be good to go.Let me know if this works - good luck and enjoy playing trumpet. I've been playing for years and still love it.John

Thanks for the comment - I agree with you. That is why we qualified oiling through the slides - we figured there were those that simply would not want to pull the valves up for oiling. We discussed that particular segment a lot before including it. Thanks.J

Keep in mind that if one oils through the slides, the oil will dissolve the slide grease and contaminate the valves and casing. Another reason for horn players to watch out for the same thing. Applying oil into the slides then inserting the slide and allowing the oil to flow into the valve would work better. So I would only recommend oiling by way of removing valves as shown. Very informative in your video! |
